VTI Vacuum Technologies Inc. proudly celebrates its 30th anniversary, marking three decades of excellence in providing top-tier vacuum metallization for EMI/RFI/ESD shielding services. What began as a small venture in 1993 has grown into a leading force in the industry, serving diverse sectors such as medical, aerospace, military, industrial, and more.
VTI was founded on May 25, 1993, with a primary focus on delivering EMI/RFI/ESD shielding for the medical industry. Through the innovative process of vacuum metalizing, an aluminum coating was applied to plastic enclosures, providing unparalleled shielding capabilities. As the company’s reputation for quality and reliability grew, so did its customer base, expanding beyond the medical sector to serve aerospace, military, and dental clients.
In 2003 looking to extend its services and build upon the success of vacuum metallization, VTI acquired a 3-axis robot to dispense EMI conductive silicone gaskets onto the aluminum coating on plastic enclosures. VTI would later expand their Form In Place capabilities to apply EMI conductive gaskets to metal components and non-conductive gaskets to plastic and metal components using 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis robots. Just like the success of vacuum metalizing plastic enclosures, VTI serves customers in the medical, military, aerospace, and industrial industry.
In 2006, VTI introduced a top coat that passivated the aluminum coating, expanding its services into the aerospace market and offering additional value to the military sector.
Throughout the years, VTI has continuously embraced Quality and Continuous Improvement. VTI’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction led to the development of cutting-edge masking components, allowing them to maintain high-quality standards while adapting to various program requirements. In 2000, the company acquired a 3-axis Bridgeport CNC to aid in creating the components to mask the plastic enclosures during the Physical Vapor Deposition Process. An upgrade in 2013 to a 3-axis HAAS CNC aided in the efficiency for making these components and allowing VTI to make approximately 99% of all masking and fixture components in house.
In 2007, VTI became ISO9001 certified and in 2017 was certified to the ISO9001:2015 standard. Proving their commitment to Quality and their processes.
In 2015, VTI took the next step in their commitment to excellence in Quality through the creation of the Metalize Rapid Response Improvement Team (MRRIT). This dedicated team focused on improving the quality of the metalizing process while optimizing costs. Their efforts combined with customer input resulted in significant enhancements and exemplified VTI’s dedication to continuous improvement.
